The COVID-19 pandemic has caused upheaval across the nation, and our community is no exception. Wheeler Mission is currently providing between 1,200 and 1,700 meals every day to men, women, and children, far exceeding normal numbers for this time of year. Beyond this, they continue to provide other critical services to continue offering help, hope, and healing to neighbors in need. Wheeler has three shelters near downtown Indianapolis that collectively provide services to over 600 individuals each day, and are currently operated by a front-line staff of ~65 people. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Wheeler has been deemed an essential service and is working in conjunction with the CDC and Board of Health to provide critical care to a vulnerable population.
