Late last year I was contacted by a young couple that were getting married at a new venue in the Indianapolis area, Mooresville to be specific.  It seems like new wedding venues pop up often so I made the assumption that this was going to be something similar to what I had seen in the past.  I was wrong, very wrong.

Willowfield Lavender Farms is one of the most beautiful wedding venues I have ever seen.

This 28 acre organic lavender farm has 1,000 plants covering the 4 acre field.  It is owned by Kieran and Elizabeth O’Connor who have made this venue their labor of love since 1992.  While the venue has a neat back story and certainly a unique vibe I was still shocked with how cool the setup was.

Here is a perfect example, the ceremony site.  In order to get to the ceremony guests have a 5-8 minute walk down a well maintained path with gorgeous plants and trees lining the walk.  It feels like something out of story book and overwhelms the senses with the feeling of outdoor freedom.  Birds chirping, a gentle breeze, and even the occasional frog are some of the encounters you can plan for.  But then…the trail opens up to a small but just big enough clearing where the ceremony takes places.  The clearing is covered by a canopy of trees to help keep guests comfortable even in the hottest of temperatures.

Of course while the ceremony is the most important part, everyone wants to have an awesome reception party!  The Lavender Farm delivers again with their HUGE reception area.  At this particular wedding the couple opted for tents, a mobile dance floor, yard games, and a photobooth from PhotoBooths INdy, but the options are endless.
