The bubbly has been enjoyed and your Facebook friends have had enough time to envy the rock. Congrats! Now it’s time to choose the cater for your big day. But…what exactly goes into hiring the right wedding caterer? Don’t worry – we’ve got you.
Narrow the List, Check it Twice
First things first, narrow down that guest list and have a final number to give to a potential caterer as well as other vendors. Can your caterer easily feed 250+ guests for your downtown soirée or are they a better hire for something small like a bridal shower or rehearsal dinner? Be sure your caterer can offer the quality meal you want and make sure they can accommodate dietary restrictions, preferences, and common food
What’s the Theme?
At this point, you’re probably tired of everyone asking you what the theme is, but it’s an important detail you shouldn’t leave out when interviewing a caterer. Moreover, it’s also important to describe the venue whether it’s a hotel ballroom, rustic barn, or rooftop in the city.
Make sure your caterer can come up with a meal plan for you that is appropriate for the vibe of your event. Serving BBQ may be perfect for an outdoor wedding, but not so much for the “Under Parisian Lights” theme you’ve had on your Pinterest board for years.
Don’t Forget the Money, Honey
When interviewing potential caterers, ask for a quote that includes taxes, any gratuity or service fees, and delivery fees if applicable. Don’t forget wedding-specific details like bottle service fees, a cake cutting fee, or if a champagne toast is included!
Having an idea of what everything will cost beforehand will not only help you stay within budget but can also help keep you – somewhat – stress-free.
