Nameless Catering teamed up with Family Promise of Greater Indianapolis to donate a meal to this worthy community organization.
Family Promise of Greater Indianapolis (FPGI) is a nonprofit agency that works to eliminate homelessness in the greater Indianapolis area with a mission to help children and their families who are homeless.
They serve 50 families per year thanks to the help of more than 30 religious congregations and a variety of community organizations around Indianapolis that respond to the homeless crisis by providing emergency shelter, food, and transportation to and from their day center near downtown.
Every day the day center receives at least ten calls from families who are turned away because the shelter program is at maximum capacity. Some of those families then have to sleep in cars or couch-surf with family or friends. Others deplete their little savings at weekly stay motels.
FGIP is part of a collaborative project called the Continuum of Care (CoC), a community-based coordinated process of identifying needs and building a system of housing and services that address the homelessness need in the Indianapolis community.
While FPGI provides assistance to meet emergency needs, they also provide access to skill development, resources, and networks to create lasting stability for families.
This year, more than 2.5 million children in the United States will experience homelessness. This epidemic increases the likelihood that families will separate and children will fall behind in school.
Nameless Catering proudly supports FPGI’s promise to keep families together during the most difficult times in their lives.
